TFL safer schools team visit

Alex from Transport For London (TFL) safer schools team visited Year 6 to talk about citizenship and being safe on public transport.

Alex spoke to the children about various topics, including age of responsibility, ZIP cards, behaviour on public transport, safety on public transport and safety whilst waiting for public transport.

Year 6 enjoyed the talk, and learnt much from it.

With regards to safety on buses they were taught where to stand safely at bus stops and where you are allowed and not allowed to stand on the bus.

They learnt about safety on trains and tubes – they were told about standing with their backs against walls at stations to ensure safety and to go to the help point if they needed assistance.

They were informed about TFL’s journey planner web page and were shown how to map out routes.

It was a very interesting and informative afternoon and gave the children tips on safety that will help them with the transition to secondary school.
