NMP is going to the Chess Megafinals!

The UK Chess Challenge first took place in 1996 and has since grown into the largest children’s chess tournament in the world. This event welcomes all-comers from beginners to National Champions and schools from all corners of the United Kingdom take part.

Following last year’s event in which 40,000 children from 1,280 schools and clubs took part, they are launching the 23rd Chess Challenge.

These tournaments are massively popular because everyone in the school can take part and everyone wins prizes. The best players can then go through to the area Megafinal and, skills permitting, to the Gigafinals and National Terafinal.

This week four of our pupils were entered into the chess Megafinals which is taking place on the 10th June at Bishop Justus School in Bromley Kent.  The following children will be taking part:

Gabriel I - Poland Class

Yahya K - China Class

Kacper W - China Class

Jason A - Brazil Class

There are over 40 pupils at Norbury Manor Primary School who attend the chess club.
