Norbury Manor Primary School

Enterprise Week

During the week of the 11th – 15th December we have held a whole school Enterprise Week. The aim of this was to develop our children’s knowledge and understanding of different types of jobs, how money is spent in designing and making products and how they can contribute to a range of activities that help them to become more enterprising and gain experience of the working world.

In preparation for the week, each class was allocated a budget of £30.00 with a remit of making a business plan, forming a team, designing a product, advertising and making a product that can be marketed for sale to members of the school community. Each class was challenged to try to make a profit on their original £30.00 budget.

The children drew upon the information that they learnt during the week to support them in designing, advertising and making their own products in order to support their own enterprise work. They presented to the whole School on Friday Morning and the products go on Sale after school on Friday at the Winter Fayre.

Each year group also created an advert for their products which are listed below:

Cupcakes, rice crispy cakes, sparkly decorations, badges, beads and bracelets, rainbow popcorn, Candle holders , stress balls, Slime pots and gift boxes.

The week will culminate with a Winter Fayre (Friday 15th December at 3.10, main hall). During the afternoon the children are able to showcase their work to their parents and the whole school and then to sell the products that they had created.

We know it will be an amazing afternoon and raise lots of funds for our Sensory area – we have a target and let’s see how close we can get.

Miss Walton and Miss Norma will let the Pupils know on Monday just how good their profits are. And we will see which class and year group sold the most.

A big well done to all pupils,. With such creative ideas and beautifully made gifts we are sure they will sell out fast.
